A family of owners, builders and operators. Different perspectives. One shared purpose.
Hospitality is personal.
Meet our people.
Chairman & Principal
“The strongest foundations are built with a long-term view.”
G.S. Chhabra founded what would become CMC Hotels after developing the Best Western Cary in 1984, laying the foundation for the family’s growth in hospitality. A chemical engineer by training, he began his career with Union Carbide Corporation before turning his attention to hotel ownership and development. What started with a single Cary hotel has grown into a diversified hospitality company with properties across North Carolina. Throughout CMC’s evolution, G.S. has brought an entrepreneurial mindset, a disciplined approach to investment, and a long-term perspective on ownership. Today, as Chairman, he continues to provide guidance and perspective, drawing on decades of experience as CMC has grown and evolved into the company it is today.
President & Principal
“Build thoughtfully today, and create value for generations.”
Shahn Chhabra serves as President and Principal of CMC Hotels, where he leads the company’s strategic growth, development, construction, and capital investment initiatives. His experience spans the full lifecycle of hospitality real estate, from identifying and evaluating opportunities through design, construction, opening, operations, and long-term ownership.
A 1995 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Shahn founded Chhabra Construction Corporation in 1996. The company’s North Carolina Unlimited General Contractor’s License and in-house construction expertise have become integral parts of CMC’s development platform, giving the organization greater control over quality, cost, execution, and long-term asset value.
By combining the perspectives of an owner, developer, builder, and hotel operator, Shahn brings a practical and disciplined approach to creating hospitality assets designed to perform over generations. He is also actively involved in business and community organizations throughout the Triangle, including the Young Presidents’ Organization.
Chief Operating Officer & Principal
“The details give a place its personality. The people give it heart.”
Sheri Erhart serves as Chief Operating Officer and Principal of CMC Hotels, bringing a distinctly creative perspective to the company’s hotels, brands, and guest experiences. Since joining CMC in 1997, she has played an integral role in the company’s growth, renovations, new development, brand relationships, community engagement, and the positioning of its portfolio. A graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Sheri pairs creativity with a practical, systems-driven approach to operations and development. She serves on the Executive Boards of the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association and the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been a member of Marriott’s Owner Advisory Council since 2016, and remains actively involved in tourism and hospitality leadership throughout the state.
Executive Vice President
“Great hospitality grows when people have the opportunity to lead.”
Jovan Dockmanovich serves as Executive Vice President of CMC Hotels, overseeing the day-to-day operations, performance, and strategic execution of the company’s hotel portfolio. He joined CMC in 1999 as General Manager of the Holiday Inn & Suites Cary/Raleigh and advanced through increasingly senior leadership roles as the company grew, ultimately becoming Executive Vice President. His hospitality career includes experience with Four Seasons Hotels, The Westin William Penn Hotel, and Nemacolin Resort & Spa. Throughout nearly three decades with CMC, Jovan has remained especially focused on developing leaders, strengthening accountability, and creating opportunities for associates to grow within the organization. Raised by immigrant parents who operated a restaurant, hospitality has been part of his life from an early age.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
“Understand the guest. Build the relationship. Earn the trust.”
For Eric Habschied, successful hotel sales begin with relationships. As Vice President of Sales and Marketing for CMC Hotels, he leads sales strategy and revenue generation across the portfolio while developing the team responsible for bringing that strategy to life. Eric’s hospitality career began in food and beverage, where he held roles ranging from Restaurant Manager and Banquet Manager to Food & Beverage Cost Controller before moving into sales and marketing. That operational background continues to shape his approach today: understand the guest, deliver great service, build trust, and the sales will follow. Eric particularly enjoys mentoring team members and seeing both people and hotels grow.
Vice President of Finance
“Good information helps people make better decisions every day.”
Kathleen Flanders has spent her career turning financial information into better business decisions. As Vice President of Finance for CMC Hotels, she oversees accounting and financial functions across the portfolio while working closely with ownership, corporate leaders, General Managers, and property teams. Kathleen joined CMC in 2021 with more than 40 years of experience in finance and accounting, including leadership roles overseeing large multi-property hotel portfolios. She has also built a reputation for improving systems, simplifying processes, and finding practical solutions to complex financial challenges. Kathleen believes finance should do more than report results; it should give operators the information and tools they need to identify issues early and run better hotels.
Director of Human Resources
“Helping someone grow is one of the most meaningful things we can do.”
Michelle McGregor’s career at CMC Hotels reflects the kind of growth she works to create for others. She joined the company in 2008 as Accounts Payable Manager before transitioning into Human Resources and advancing through several leadership roles to become Director of Human Resources. With more than 30 years of experience managing hotels, multifamily communities, and commercial facilities, Starling brings a practical, hands-on approach to complex building operations. His work focuses on preventive maintenance, mechanical system reliability, capital improvements, regulatory and brand compliance, and life-safety standards. He especially enjoys solving challenging facility issues and creating repeatable systems that make property teams more effective. Celebrating our people.
Inspiring excellence.
Great hospitality begins with great people. Each year, our Hallmark of Hospitality brings together team members from across the CMC Hotels portfolio for a day dedicated to recognition, inspiration and connection.
Recognizing exceptional people.
At the heart of the event is celebrating the individuals who make a difference every day. From honoring decades of service to recognizing exceptional achievements through our Spirit of Hospitality, Sales Drop the Mic and Luminary Awards, we shine a spotlight on the talent, dedication and leadership that define CMC.
Growing through connection.
The celebration also creates opportunities to learn and grow. Through engaging presentations from hospitality industry leaders, inspirational speakers and hands-on philanthropic initiatives, our teams gain new perspectives, strengthen relationships and make a positive impact in our communities.
More than an annual event, the Hallmark of Hospitality reflects our commitment to recognizing achievement, developing our people and building a culture where excellence is celebrated.
